Residual Morphologies Series
Residual Morphologies explores how discarded paper and mineral residues can be reworked into new material formations. Through softening, pulping, layering, drying, and hand-shaping, these remnants gradually build into dense, stratified surfaces that echo geological processes. Irregularities, colour shifts, and exposed layers are intentionally preserved, revealing the material’s transformation rather than concealing it.
The series redefines waste as a site of potential, turning everyday residues into sculptural and functional forms that question value, permanence, and the aesthetics of what remains.

JC Studio researches discarded paper, transforming it through controlled processes of pulping, layering, and material reformulation. The work generates new composites for surfaces, objects, and spatial applications, questioning conventional ideas of value, waste, and the materials that shape our environments. This ongoing investigation reframes waste as a site of value, revealing new material possibilities through experimentation, craft, and slow, hands-on transformation.
